About me

I am a 29-year-old software engineer from Germany. In my free time I like to listen to music, play video games and occasionaly participate in game jams. On my weekends I love to play board games with my friends. I have dedicated a section of this page to every interest I have.

Music

I love electronic music. Three years ago I rediscovered my love for dubstep. Two years ago I got really into Drum and Bass and Jungle and that has stuck with me since. Some of my favorite artists are listed here.

There are also bands I have known for much longer and mean a lot to me. Depeche Mode is important to me because it formed my current music tastes heavily and their music also reminds me of my dad.

While I do not like the current stuff that Linkin Park makes (no hate, it is just not my taste anymore), I grew up with their music.

Gaming

I grew up with custom PCs and Windows XP. Software was not an interest of mine, hardware was. So I built PCs with my childhood friend and we played all sorts of games on them. From old P2W MMOs to shooters like Borderlands. Later I grew more and more interested in indie games and genres outside the AAA space.

Here are some of my favorite games.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Gothic 1 Resident Evil 4 STALKER: Clear Sky Grim Dawn Prey GRIS

I value games that are made with love. They don't have to be perfect. But they should be made with a motivation not only defined by money and greed.

Vim

A few years ago a friend of mine showed me an "obscure" little program called Vim. I labeled it as a gimmicky tool back then and forgot it soon after. Then a YouTube video popped into my feed where someone moved his cursor around the screen like a wizard, editing lines of code with ease. This was the beginning of my adventure into a rabbit hole.

It is just so much fun using the cute little text editor. And the best thing: You can always get better at using it, so it never gets boring.

Privacy

I value privacy. Personally and as a fundamental right for everyone. It makes me sad when corporations or the government try to circumvent privacy rights. We have to speak up or use services that do not ignore these principles.

Journaling

Journaling is an integral part of my daily life. I have an e-ink tablet that I take almost anywhere. On this device I also read blog posts, the news, or books.
